Evan's Cellar Notes - Wines for the Holidays

Evan's Cellar Notes - Wines for the Holidays

Let us take one thing off your plate…

The starting-gun has fired and we’re off to the races. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and the holidays to follow. To help, we’re sharing recommendations from one of our local, favorite wine shops – Santa Rosa’s own Bottle Barn.

Pol Roger, Brut Reserve – Champagne – $55.99

  • Keeping it classy never fails. While imports have become more expensive, finding a world-class Champagne for under $60 is a GOOD PRICE. No really!

  • Champagne is arguably the perfect feast wine; high acidity rounded out with savory complexity; plus bubble!

  • Extra kudos for this being what my wife and I served at our wedding.  :)

Brick & Mortar 2022 North Coast Brut Nature – CA Sparkling – $26.99

  • Brick & Mortar is a rising star in Sonoma County’s wine scene. Matt and Alexis - the married couple behind this brand - are making amazing wine and surprising people consistently.

  • This is made like a Champagne, yet produced locally.

Leo Steen 2024 Rosé of Grenache – $20.99

  • Drinks like a classic rosé with great acidity to lay-across all the typical dishes of a thanksgiving meal.

  • Leo’s tasting room is based in Healdsburg, and he’s always original and natural in style.

Coenobium 2024 White Blend, Lazio, Italy – $27.99

  • One of my all-time personal favorites for the adventurous and experienced wine lover. Made by a convent in central Italy. This is a skin-contact wine crafted with very old-school techniques. White grapes, fermented on the skins like a red wine.

  • A truly food friendly and dynamic wine.

Ramey Wine Cellars 2023 Chardonnay, Fort Ross - Seaview AVA – $44.99

  • One of our greats is Sonoma County - Ramey is a stalwart.

  • This Chardonnay is sourced from the far west of Sonoma County’s coastal range.

Foradori 2023 Teroldego – $28.99

  • A superb alternative for Pinot Noir or Gammay lovers. Teroldego is a variety out of northern Italy and Foradori is one of the region’s best.

  • Foradori’s wines are signature and beautiful. Teroldego is a medium bodied red with nice acidity for your table’s feast.

Chateau Musar 2016 – Bordeaux Style Blend – $59.99

  • If you love your Cabernet, give yourself the gift of Chateau Musar. Actually grown in Lebanon, Musar is iconic and singular.

  • From a cost basis, this is a great value when most Napa Cabernets start around $55 a bottle.

  • You’ll find something echoing classic Bordeaux yet unique.
